SOMATIC THERAPYIN MOOSE JAW, SKWhen insight isn’t enough.
Nervous system-based therapy bridges the gap between your mind and body, so change can take root and grow.
YOU CAN'T THINK YOUR WAY OUT OF FEELING
You understand the patterns.
You’ve reflected. You know what “to do.”
But your body still reacts.
Patterns repeat.
Change doesn’t fully stick.
At a certain point, it’s not about figuring it out.
It’s about integrating your mind & body..
Imagine a day where a sudden stressor feels like a wave you can actually surf, rather than a tide that pulls you under.

Somatic Therapy for Lasting Change
TIRED OF THE SAME LOOPS?
You’re doing al l the “right” things and are still unsatisfied, it’s not because you’re failing—it’s because your body is still protective.
Somatic therapy works with your body, where protective patterns are held beneath awareness.
You can’t willpower your way into a regulated nervous system.
Move beyond "knowing" to work with your body’s natural responses –so you can stop bracing, and start breathing.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO THIS ALONEWe combine talk therapy and somatic practice to help your body catch up with your mind.
Together, we slow down to work with what’s happening beneath the surface at a manageable pace. It’s an integrated approach that helps you move beyond insight to:

Shift from reacting to responding.
Create change that actually stays.

Here is a condensed version that keeps the warmth and inclusivity while getting straight to the point.
Who is somatic therapy for?
This work is for anyone who is feeling the impact of life—stress, pressure, or burnout—within their body. You don’t need to be a "therapy person" or have a specific diagnosis to benefit. It is entirely logical that your nervous system has learned to protect you by tensing up, shutting down, or staying on high alert.
This work is for you if:
You’re stuck in your head: You understand why you feel this way, but you haven’t found the how to actually feel better.
You carry stress physically: You notice tension as a tight jaw, racing heart, digestive issues, or exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix.
You feel disconnected: You sometimes feel numb or like you’re "watching" your life rather than fully participating in it.
You’re tired of "forcing" it: You’re done white-knuckling your way through the day and are ready to stop fighting your own biology.
You’re just starting out: You’ve never been to therapy before, but you’re ready for a practical, grounded way to feel like yourself again.
You don’t need to be in crisis to deserve support; you just need a willingness to slow down and listen to what your body is trying to say.
-
This is a functional tool for regulation, not a replacement for high-level psychiatric care.
Acute Crisis: If you are currently in an acute crisis, experiencing active psychosis, or require immediate, intensive psychiatric stabilization, this is not the right first step. Please seek out emergency services or clinical specialists who are equipped to handle immediate safety needs.
Looking for a "Quick Fix": We aren't here to force your nervous system to change overnight. If you’re looking for a "hack" or a shortcut to bypass your process, this slow-and-steady approach might feel frustratingly patient.
-
Because somatic therapy focuses on the nervous system, it’s effective for a wide range of experiences that feel "stuck" in the body:
Chronic stress and that "always-on" feeling.
Difficulty relaxing or winding down (the "tired but wired" feeling).
Emotional reactions that feel out of proportion to the current situation.
The gap between knowing you are "safe" and actually feeling safe in your skin.
Managing the physical symptoms that accompany anxiety or past burnout.

If you feel like you’ve been "living in your head" your whole life, or that you’re totally blank when asked how you’re feeling—you are not alone. In fact, this is exactly why most people come to me.
Feeling disconnected isn't a character flaw or a lack of ability; it is a smart, protective strategy you learned long ago to navigate stress when you didn't have the space to feel it.
You don’t need to be "good" at this, and you don’t need to be an expert in your own anatomy to start. Think of me as a translator: I help you learn the language of your body, starting with the simplest, most undeniable sensations—like the weight of your body in the chair or the feeling of your feet on the floor. We go at your speed, and we never go faster than what feels manageable. You aren't starting "behind." You’re just starting.
-
There is no set timeline, because nervous systems don’t have an "off" switch—they have a rhythm. Some people find significant relief in a few sessions; others prefer a longer-term partnership to navigate deeper patterns. We will check in regularly to make sure the process is serving you, but I don't believe in "forever therapy" if you aren't finding value in it.
-
It looks a bit different than traditional talk therapy. We will talk, but we also weave in "somatic inquiries." This means I will invite you to pause and notice what’s happening in your body—the quality of your breath, the sensation of your muscles, or where you feel tension—while we talk through your experiences. It’s not about performing; it’s about listening to the information your body is already giving us. We move at a pace that feels safe for you, not at a pace that forces an breakthrough.
-
Both.
In-person: We meet at Soma Home in Moose Jaw. Being in a physical, quiet, and grounded space can be deeply supportive for this work.
Virtual: We meet via secure video call. Somatic work translates surprisingly well to virtual sessions. You simply need a private, quiet space where you feel comfortable taking a breath and slowing down.

Yes. In somatic work, we don't view these as "defects" to be fixed, but as logical, biological survival responses your system developed to keep you safe.
Anxiety is often your nervous system stuck on "high alert."
Depression can be a "shutdown" response to overwhelm.
Trauma is often "stuck" energy from a survival response that was interrupted.
Because these are stored in your body, we don’t just "talk" our way out of them. We work directly with your nervous system to help it release that tension. We move at a pace that feels safe for you—never rushing—to help you shift out of survival mode and into a more grounded, flexible way of living.
